Inspirations & Aspirations
My strong interest in the field of freelance writing for was first sparked by an enthusiasm for food and travel journalism. I’ve long-admired female food and travel writers and presenters like Melissa Leong, Annabel Crabb, and Samin Nosrat, and one day, I would like to write for some of the institutions these women have worked with, like the New York Times, Delicious Magazine, or the ABC.
I’ve dreamed of writing novels professionally from a very young age. I love to write stories, and my work in fiction has been influenced by female writers such as Sally Rooney, Margaret Atwood, Maggie O’Farrell, and Taylor Jenkins Reid. My stories usually touch on themes of self-discovery and gender inequality.
As of 2022, I’ve had my own novel in the works. It’s a contemporary, genderbent retelling of Hamlet which is set on the Gold Coast, and I hope to get it published before I graduate in 2025. The novel, which is set in a luxury hotel, is informed by my love of literature and food and travel in equal measure, and I hope it is the first of many that I publish.
