Glass Cliff

Strange, how no one blames the serpent,

Wouldn’t you agree?

Strange, how no one blames the serpent:

They only blame Eve.

Ask me about Pandora,

And how she found the box;

Who placed temptation in her hands?

Who curled her fingers ‘round the lock?

Did Helen man a fleet

Of a thousand navy ships?

Did the order to set sail

Fall from her own lips?

Blame us for your failings,

Blame us for your misdeeds;

Come to us in blood,

Then leave us at your crime scene.

Wipe your wretched hands –

I know you have the gall –

Lead us up a glass cliff,

And stand back –

To watch us fall.
